02; serious motivation

As I’m sitting here with my organic, homemade mint tea (a few mint leaves my dad picked from the garden and ¬†hot water), there are a few things that I am realizing. One, I need an herb garden like my grandma’s when I have a permanent location, and two, I’m pretty good at starting things but very bad at completing unless I have a serious motivator. For example, this past quarter I took 22 units. My motivator? Cum lade when I graduate – all things considering I only had two more quarters to attempt the high marks. And guess what? At least I know that when I put my head to something, it works out. This quarter I had a 4.0 ūüôā

Anyways, since I’ve green home, I’ve had this crazy hankering to be fit again. And I realized that, even though i have eaten reasonably healthy and have done some exercising, its not regimented enough to get me where I need to be.

And so, here is my list of “I’m Bribing Myself with Gifts so I can Loose Weight, While Stimulating the Economy”… Yeah. Needs a better name.

*for every 10lb lost, make a bracelet commemorating the achievement. I’m starting at 180, and am going to be getting this bracelet done. Picture to come ūüôā

  • CW: 180
  • Gw1: 175 – 1 new CD for working out
  • Gw2: 170 – Yoga mat holder
  • Gw3: 165 – cover for nexus
  • Gw4: 160 – “train like a beast, look like a beauty” top or something similar
  • Gw5: 155 – Concert or musical tickets
  • Gw6: 150 – one new workout outfit (top, bra, and pants), 2 CDs
  • Gw7: 145 – HP series in EBook form
  • Gw8: 140 – hair cut, color, and Mani OR pedi
  • Gw9: 135 – new pair of jeans, one new set of workout clothes if needed
  • Gw10: 130 – ¬†full body massage/spa day
  • Gw11: maintain 130 for 2 months – new pair of running shoes, one new workout outfit (top, bra, pants), one new complete outfit (Top, shoes, bottoms, outerwear, undergarments)
  • UGW1/Gw12: 120 – $200 shopping spree (anything)
  • Gw13: maintain 120 for 3 months – weekend getaway

Yeah. I think with this kinda motivation, I can do it ūüėÄ

30DC: DAY 30!!!

Cue lights! Cue streamers! CUE THE EXCITEMENT!

This is the last post on the 30 day challenge, which, if you’ve been keeping up with this site (that was sarcasm),¬†that means that I’ve completed my first internet challenge!

(And the crowd goes wild!!!)

Day 30: One thing you’re excited about

I think, in my usual (as of late manner) it’s much easier to say¬†what I’m not excited about,¬†but that would be a bit drab and pessimistic. And, I don’t I’d get a lot of happy readers that way.

So. What am I excited about?

The fact that, even though I’ve been completely stressed out of my mind and just want to punch a wall and eat lots and lots (and lots and lots) of chocolate and consume boba, I have yet to snap at someone. That, in itself,¬†is such a big accomplishment.

If you knew me prior to this year, you’d say that I’ve grown up. Like, taking my first steps, learning to use the john, and eat spaghetti without swimming in it, proud. For a 5′ & 1 3/4″ there’s quite a bit of pent up anger,¬†frustration¬† and hate seething through my veins.

I guess this change of events¬†might be attributed to my whole Zen, breathe twice before you speak, frame of mind, but I’ve been pretty… lax? as of late. Maybe that’s the description, or maybe, I just don’t give a fuck. Either way, I’ve found, retrospectively, that I haven’t been a raging (well, somewhat)¬†psychopath¬†trying to make everyone happy.

That’s one thing. I’ve realized that you can’t appease everyone, and that trying to is only going to make your hair turn grey (no offense to pepper heads. I hope I look as good as you do when the time comes) prematurely and really isn’t healthy. Maybe I’m being selfish and thinking that… hey, maybe I don’t have to keep explaining myself¬†when you are just going to keep pushing me down.¬†Negativity¬†is such a bad thing to feed upon.

Oh – to anyone that has stopped by in the last few weeks and see that I haven’t posted — I haven’t forsaken this site!! I’ve just been busy moving into my apartment and getting back into the swing of school, personal, and fraternal life. And, let me tell you, that is a whole ball of mess that I’m not¬†altogether¬†(although, probably will) excited to write about.

Anyhow… I’m squeezing in this¬†explanatory¬†post as I’m waiting for my class to start.. and as it seems to be starting soon, so…

TOODLES!

*end scene.

30DC: Day 29

I actually really like this prompt, which is probably why I’m writing it now.

5 weird things you like

  • ZOMBIES. In theory, not in reality (nor in practicality). Out of all the late-night creepy crawlers, I’m pretty sure that I could deal with zombies over, let’s say, the oogey-boggey man (The Nightmare Before Christmas¬†is forever etched in my mind).

And, because well, zombie heros sounds so much cooler

  • AVOCADO¬†“MILK” SHAKES/SMOOTHIES. Don’t hate until you try it. It’s so utterly sweet and delicious, and¬†despite¬†the fact that it looks like puke, you won’t be regurgitating it anytime soon. I actually chug this down pretty quickly…

(click for a link – the Vietnamese version uses condensed milk, which replaces the need for milk & sugar)

  • CRAWDADDIES. Some people think it’s pretty gross, since crawdaddies (crawfish) live in the muck and mire, but if you’d only image them as mini lobsters, it makes it sound so much more appealing. But, I don’t stop at just¬†nibbling¬†at the tail meat, I slurp¬†all the way¬†into the top¬†portion, where all the flavor’s at.

(I try not to look into their eyes while I’m eating them up. Makes for a better eating experience)

  • BALANCING THE LIGHT SWITCH BETWEEN ON/OFF. Probably really bad for the electrical circuits, but I love tettering between the two options, in total¬†suspense¬†if the lights are going to turn on. I’ve seriously spent about 5 minutes doing this at one point because it was so fun. Yes, I’ll tell you, it doesn’t take much to entertain me…
  • and last, but not least, PRESSING MY FACE TO JUST-PRINTED PAPER/just dried clothes.

Anything weird that you like or do?¬†I’d like to know I’m not a complete wacko ūüėČ

30DC: 15-28

Ah, shit. I’m really bad at this updating thing. But, in my defense, it’s been pretty hectic since I last wrote something. I’m in my last few days in the northern part of CA before jetting off to school again (which, in all honesty, I’m am very much excited for). But, holy guacamole. 14 days have passed?! That’s an entire novel right there that I could have written! In internet land… that’s,¬†like, CENTURIES!

But, hey – a novel I will write now in attempts to catch up! I guess, after this post, there will be only¬†two more posts until I’ve “finished” this challenge. Finished, being used, as a very loose term.

Post is kinda picture heavy. You’ve been forewarned (although your browser has probably already loaded them all by now, just thought I’d be¬†courteous)

Day 15: Your zodiac/horoscope and if you think it fits you

I’m a Scorpio, for all of your horoscope lovin’ web-netter’s out there that can garner a person’s personality from how/what they write about. And this is what my zodiac¬†says about me (just bullets… if I had copied and pasted everything it would have been too long to post).

Taken verbatim from Zodiac Signs Astrology.

Scorpio Astrology October 23 – November 21

  • series of extremes, they can even be downright moody for no apparent reason
  • excellent memory and combined with an inability to let things go
  • persistent and determined
  • Scorpios are fierce competitors, combined with their powers of observation and their excellent memory, they will recall facts and when necessary, bring them to the table at the time of need
  • ¬†all about intensity and contradictions
  • Scorpios are all about control, they need to be in control at all times. To be out of control is very threatening, even dangerous to the Scorpio’s psyche, when they control, they feel safe.

16: Something you always think “what if” about

what if…

  • the world was color blind?
  • humans weren’t at the top of the food chain?
  • fairy tales were real?
  • I had a Big Mac¬†right now? Would my stomach reek revenge on me?! (I’ve been a vegetarian for about 5 years now…)
  • I had to live my life on repeat (but not a day, specifically. Let’s say, a week or a month. Just to be interesting.)

—–

17: Something you are proud of

Making my own planner/notebook/journal. No, seriously. It’s friggin’ baller, and will get it’s own post very soon

(Sneak peak!)

Pardon that it’s a bit yellow – there’s little lighting where I am right now.

—–

18: A problem that you have had

Forgetting things. “It’s in my horoscopic nature” you may say. If you do one thing to¬†extremely¬†irk me off, you betcha that 50 years down the road I’m still going to be peeved. But, thankfully, I do forgive easily, especially if you bake me a chocolate cake. Just don’t serve it with arsenic & dolly it up with old lace.

Get it??

—–

19: Five items that you lust for

Nexus 7 (but getting it soon!) This is pretty much my first Anti-Apple large-statement purchase… Yes, I realize that leaving the Apple sphere to join into the Droid cult is essentially the same move (ie. joining another following), but with the string of recent Apple moves lately, I’ve been thinking that they’ve become a little bit too bit for my liking (pretty sure this statement is going to bite me in the ass sometime down the road).

  • Boba! Because you can never have enough…. a delicious,¬†chewy, aromatic¬†concoction¬†served with a side of diabetes.

  • A (nice looking) (sturdy) (will look better after aging) leather messenger bag. Oh! Like this one

Because nothing is better than quality meeting functionality & aesthetics

Um, that’s pretty much it. I haven’t really lusted for anything all summer due to the fact that I’m trying to be as content as possible with everything that I currently own/have no business in purchasing/should really detach myself from worldly¬†processions. I’ll probably get these items (erm, the boba and messenger bag, that is) eventually, but at the expense of tossing/donating something else.

Oh – did I mention? I threw out an entire box (about 30 articles of clothing) last week. No picture though, sadly, as I was in this frenzy of “need to get it out of my sight and into the hands of Goodwill extra-extra-extra quick before I regret something” From start to finish (including unloading the car at Goodwill, I probably¬†de cluttered¬†in 15 mins.¬†Now, that’s what I call productivity!

—–

20: Your fears

I guess I’ll put the most practical:¬†graduating with a B.Arch degree realizing that I learned little, and can’t find a job in a related field.¬†Oh, and¬†not getting into a Master’s program and excelling.

And, (this is on my over arching bucket list) not traveling to Japan. That would make me so utterly devastated

—–

21:¬†how you hope you’re future is like

I hope it’s filled with rainbows, stars, and pixie dust.

But, no, seriously, I just hope I’m happy and get to do what I want instead of feeling obligated to follow the every whim of the people around me.

—–

22: Your academics

I’m studying Architecture… so I’m not sure exactly what this prompt is looking for?

—–

23: Something that you miss

Fried chicken from Popeye’s. I grew up with it in Texas and it was such a delight to eat. But since giving up meat, I still crave it in my dreams sometimes…

I hope you don’t think I’m kidding – yes, I could start eating meat again, but 1) it would totally wreck my system for the longest time, and having hives isn’t my idea of fun and 2) the only meat i would eat would be fried chicken.

So, pretty much, I’m better off with my faux Morning Start chikn ‘nuggets with lots of BBQ doused on top, practically til it becomes BBQ soup with chik’n nugget croutons on top.

24: 5 words/phrases that make you laugh

its actually is really easy to make me laugh…. i’m not sure if i have easy button words/phrases. But, when I do find out/realize that they are making my laugh manically, I’ll have to change the answer to this prompt. But for right now? I’ll just say boobies.

——

25:¬†Something you’re currently worrying about

If I’ll actually be able to stick to my monetary budget for the next year.

——

26: Things you dis/like about yourself.

I love myself! What’s wrong with you?

Ha, I’m pretty sure the creator of this challenge was female, because body image/perception seems (more commonly) a female issue.

But, if i could pinpoint one thing that I disliked about myself, physically, would be that I wish both my eye lids had the american fold just because trying to eye line one “American” eye versus the “Asian” eye so that they appear even when my eyes open makes me waste so.much.eyeliner!

And one thing that I love about myself? I bake really, really well. Like, good enough to sell! I’ve actually sold around $400 in baked goods (donated after I payed myself for supplies), as well as was payed $200 to cater. Not bad for my self-taught-baker high school self!

———

27: A quote you try to live by

Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. – Specific author not known (it’s been attributed to several different people)

—–

28: somewhere you’d liked to move or to visit.

On my bucket list (which, until recently, has not changed in about 8 years) is to travel to Japan, Alaska, and Russia (just St. Petersburg). But, I’ve swapped out Russia for Switzerland, as my love of chocolate has grown¬†exponentially.

—-

WHEW! I FINISHED! Count it, 14 prompts done!

Now, if only I can make it and not get lazy on the last two…

30DC: 14

Day 14:

Hi. My name is K & this is what I wore today. And I may or may not be obsessed with boba.

This is the dress in it’s entirety (third on on the list). I’m only about 5″1, so it drags on the floor. But, hey. That’s what heels are for.

What did you wear today?

30DC: 12 + 13

Hi, Ho!

DAY 012: Five Guys Whom You Find Attractive.

insert smutty laugh– In fear of sounding like a total douche-ette and only caring about looks (hard, I know!) I’ll hit five different guys on the basis of the 10 traits of a real man. As it would be too easy to add my own boyfriend to this list, and not all together that fun in the spirit of this thirty day challenge, the men listed below have to hit at least two of the¬†qualities¬†on the AskMen’s list. Personally, this makes everything¬†so much more¬†challenging.

01: Tim Burton – maybe not the most dashing man in the world, but certainly, he is a creative genius and all together one of my favorite directors. His creative intellect alone could be the basis on my on-going attraction to him.

traits: made his own fortune, focused, does not look like a woman

02: Abraham Lincoln РFavorite president, ever. And he could have been a vampire slayer? COOL!

traits: focused, knows the importance of family, word is his bond, strives to be a role model, made his own fortune, can defend himself

o3: Robert Pattinson – say what you may of him, but I personally feel that the grace he took (at least in the public eye) is quite commendable. Loved him since HPGF days, and it really doesn’t hurt that he’s British, of course.

traits: can defend himself, doesn’t gossip, word is his bond, is strong, knows the importance of family, focused

04: Eric Northman – yes, I realize that he is a title character in the True Blood/The Southern Vampire Series, but did you honestly think I’d not include at least one hunk that fit the bill on this list?! I fell in love with his character as the TV series progressed…¬†whereas¬†his true nature is shown in spurts or in flashbacks, I think there’s a lot of depth of “real man” in his character. Alexander Skarsgard – the actor that portrays Northman – is cute to boot too (for some reason I’ve been on a Swedish guy rampage!). Preferred him more as the lost-loving type versus the angry-possessive, but I can’t complain.

traits: can defend himself, doesn’t gossip, word is his bond, is strong, knows the importance of family, focused, does not look like a woman, keeps his house in order

05: Hugh Jackman – in a age of failed¬†marriages, Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness have strove onwards and forwards. Doesn’t hurt one bit that he’s played Wolverine (X-Men being own of my favorit super-hero series), is a¬†philanthropist, and has¬†triumphed¬†both movie and theater stages. Would he be considered a¬†Renaissance¬†man in my eyes? Quite possibly.

traits: can defend himself, is strong, knows the importance of family, focused, does not look like a woman

Day 13: your opinion about your body and how you feel about it

I think, at the core, every person in somewhat insecure about their bodies, especially if they were to be, let’s say, naked in front of¬†their significant other.

I know I am.

But, for the most part, I’m pretty happy with my body. Although it would be nice not to have the back pain¬†associated¬†with the weight that I’ve gained in the last three years… I’m not entirely unsatisfied. However, my “coming to terms” about my more… curvy body is still not a reason for my not to get back into shape — especially since I’m planning on backpacking to several places before I’m 30.

So the moral of the store? I’m happy with the way I look, but for practicality, I need to get into better shape.

Hypocrite, much?

30DC: 10 + 11

Have 11+ days already passed since I first starting blogging on this WordPress site? It’s amazing how time slips through your fingers when you’re not fully aware of day and night. Yes, I sleep and wake up at my usual time for work, but I don’t realize when the trickles of light enter the horizon or when they slowly fade away. I’m not sure if I’m not being observant, or because my mind if preoccupied with other matters, but, it just seems like summer (or my life in general) has been slipping away. But, I’ll be writing about that tomorrow.

Onto the 30 day challenge…

Day 10: Put your music player on shuffle and write down the 10 song that play

*Note: Since reformatting Winston (le computer), I haven’t downloaded any music back onto it, so I’ve been relying on various radio stations on Pandora…. and this is what it has given me (all liked music, by the way!)

  1. No light, No light by Florence + the Machine
  2. Hands all Over by Maroon 5
  3. Home by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
  4. Piggy bank by Never Shout Never
  5. She is Love  by Parachute
  6. Boston by Augustana
  7. Turn on Billi by The Pierces
  8. Make it Mine by Jason Mraz
  9. These Walls by Teddy Geiger
  10. Porcelain by Patrick Stump

After the 15th or so song that Pandora played the music tempo picked up considerably — I’ve recently gotten¬†really¬†into¬†post-hardcore and punk music again. Some metal too… so please give me suggestions if you love those genres too!

11: Your Family

I’m the only girl in a family of boys. Three brothers, in fact, one older than me by two years, and two younger brothers 5 years and 7 years apart respectively. My parents are still together, going strong (maybe a little too strong sometimes, if you get my drift…), and I live with my grandparents and one of my aunts.

At one point, a decade or more so ago, in the tradition of a traditional Vietnamese family, I lived in a house with my grandparents, two aunts, three uncles, and my own immediate family. Yes. That’d be 12 people in a house. And it was great (for the most part). I miss having a big family, but at the same time, it’s nice to hear myself think.

———

This post hasn’t been particular interesting, I think, but in the spirit of a challenge, I felt the need to write on the prompts, however mundane my answers seem to be. I’ve been up to a lot lately – mainly broadening my experiences through the written word and contemplating. Tomorrow is a new day filled with events, however, so hopefully that’ll give me a well needed rest from my thoughts. Time will tell.

So, I’ll leave you with this, dear reader:¬†how do you “stop” thinking?
